What a Doula does NOT do:
A doula will not make medical decisions for you or on your behalf.
A doula will not take over or control your birth.
A doula will not force you to perform childbirth without pain relief
if you feel it is necessary.
A doula will not make you feel like a failure if you try for a natural delivery
and end up requesting drugs or analgesia.
A doula will not try to talk you out of using drugs if you feel the need.
A doula will not deliver your baby nor will she take on duties of a doctor or nurse
(i.e., she will not perform exams, take your medical assessments, or adjust the fetal monitor).
A doula will not force you to breastfeed your baby.
I
am available by telephone at all times. My
cell phone is always on and charged. I am
committed to be with you during your labor,
when you feel you need me and am only a phone
call away. I will be there within 2 hours of
your call. If, for some reason, I am unable to
be present,( ie: natural disaster, illness,
etc.) you will always be given a back-up doula.
